We joined two beautiful West Indian Mahogany wood slabs from the same log that were destined to become mulch. The wood was harvested from Gordon Drive post Hurricane Irma 2017.
Blacks spalting (staining) is the result of naturally occurring fungus within the tree. Voids from decay and damage from the forces of the hurricane were filled with a darkened epoxy.
Note the trunk base (basal flare) at the bottom with large limbs exiting the top. This Live Edge Dining Table also features a pruning cut from many years ago.
